____ years ago I...

20 years ago I...
was 8 years old. It was 1987. I still believed in Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, and the Tooth Fairy. New Kids on the Block were my favorite band. I believe that both grandparents on my father's side were still alive.

was 18 years old. It was 1997. My first real boyfriend, Sean McEleny and I decided to break up since he was going to SCAD and I was staying in Northern Virginia. It wrecked the both of us, but we're both still friendly to this day. In August of that year, I saw my very favorite band Radiohead (I'd matured from NKOTB) play a club show at 9:30 Club. It remains a defining moment in my life. I started college at GMU.

was 23 years old. It was 2002. I was barely treading water at school and remained heartbroken by Jeremiah Joseph Maguire. We broke up right after V-day of 2002 over the phone. I had to ask "Are you breaking up with me?" He was too busy with school. He said he couldn't be as good to me as I was to him. He needed a break. I said I would wait. I waited. He told me to stop waiting that May right before my birthday.

was 24 years old. It was 2003. I was still heartbroken and discovered Jason Anderson/Wolf Colonel when I drove 4 hours by myself to Pittsburgh to see Son, Ambulance, a guy Jeremiah and I loved together play at the Quiet Storm. Joe Knapp was only alright and Jason Anderson stole the night and my heart. I drove home happy and with "Jet Ski Accidents" on repeat pretty much the entire time. I knew something needed to change. I bounced around thoughts of Portland, Philly, or Chicago. My choice felt pretty easy. Eric Jensen, the guy I was dating, finished his summer internship at AOL and moved back to Chicago. I followed October 6, 2003. HAPPY 4 YEARS TO CHICAGO & ME! I got dumped 2 months into living here, but it was the best thing that ever happened. The people I met were genuine and awesome and remain some of my favorite people to this day even if I don't see them that much. We really had nothing in common. He's in Brooklyn now.

was 25 years old. It was 2004. Paul O'Neill and I started dating. Again, I had fallen in with someone I really didn't have that connection with, but I tricked myself into it, out of loneliness...who knows? All in all he was a good guy, but we lasted far too long. We had problems that he didn't want to work on.

was 26 years old. It was 2005. I flew back to DC to throw three really awesome make-out party events at the Diver City House in Arlington, VA. I did my first craft show, Renegade Craft Fair, that fall with Danelle, Allison R., and Ron.

was 27 years old. It was 2006. I started volunteering for South Union Arts & MPSHOWS.com. I went to SXSW for the first time ever and had a fantastic time. A week after SXSM, I met Zachary and, after a short period of being really hesitant after falling for the wrong guys over and over, I fell head over heels for him.

So far this year, I've...
turned 28. It is 2007. Z and I have been together a year and a half now. We moved in together in June. We adopted an African Pygmy hedgehog from Hedgehogs by Vickie and named him Hoggle. I have organized two craft fairs this year (one is in less than 2 weeks, and the other was in May). I have booked some amazing shows at South Union Arts (1. The Besties/Kid, You'll Move Mountains/The Fake Fictions 2. Slaraffenland 3. J Roddy Walston and the Business/Reptoids/The Modern Temper). July marked three years at my day job. I am volunteering with Ladyfest Chicago and I have befriended some amazing women through that. I've lost someone really close to my heart I think about him every single day. It was all a misunderstanding, but the words he wrote seemed so harsh and so final that every time I try to write back, I start shaking. It's been sitting in my drafts folder for 3.5 months so far.

Yesterday I...
went to the vendor brunch at DEPART-ment, went to Dominick's with Boehms, picked up my money from DEPART-ment, ate dinner with Boehms and watched Ugly Betty on her DVR, came back just in time for a special order to come by to bring onesies she wanted some of my designs on for a gift, screened one of the three onesies, finished reading JOB HOPPER, went to sleep pretty early.

Today I...
am leaving work early because it's Columbus Day, will go home and screen the other two designs onto the other onesies, possibly will make some patches too, iron the one finished onesie, clean the apartment.

Tomorrow I'll...
iron the onesies, maybe make a new card? :)
