i finally saw me and you and everyone we know. i loved it. miranda july is the american audrey tatou. the scene with her filming her shoes is so simple yet so poignant. if you don't catch it in the theatre, definitely rent it. it is heart-warming, yet disturbing. you can't say that about a lot of films. last night dan and i watched kung fu hustle, which was very entertaining. after going upstairs i finished watching disco pigs starring cillian murphy. i really don't know what to think of it. it felt kind of like 'trainspotting' since the opening had a surreal quality to it. i couldn't understand some of cillian's lines since his irish accent was so heavy. my favorite part (no joke) was the closing credits where a beautiful song played and i realized when reading the song credits that it was cillian singing and that he wrote the song as well. it's called 'so new'. i looked for a soundtrack and came up short. if you have this song, please get in touch with me! while we're on the topic of films/music, let me mention easy, which i rented thinking it was a chick flick, but i was superbly impressed with the storyline, acting, and also the soundtrack, which consists primarily of grant lee phillips songs.

Reality Bites (1994, Ben Stiller) (one of my favorite movies)
Love & Sex (2000, Valerie Breiman) (one of my favorite movies)
Little Black Book (2004, Nick Hurran) (i actually really liked this)
Lawless Heart (2001, Tom Hunsinger, Neil Hunter)
Sleep with Me (1994, Rory Kelly) (this one is just meh)
one movie that i have watched recently that was just terrible, was THE RANCH, which i had added to my queue on blockbuster online because carly pope (sam from popular) is in it. it had no redeeming qualities whatsoever. i couldn't watch it all in one sitting. i actually had to force myself to finish it, yes, it was that bad that i nearly didn't resume watching it, which is QUITE a statement for someone who regularly sits through soul crushingly awful movies with her boyfriend. do not rent this movie unless you want to watch a vapid soap opera about a whorehouse in reno, nv.
i have not mentioned this fact yet in lj, but since dan and his video game systems moved in, i have been obsessed with katamari damacy. i mean, like, "oh, it's 5pm. i can go home and play!" i have always liked video games but i am definitely loving rolling things up into my katamari. i am now making star 8 (with dan's help beating 2 levels). i was saying that pretty much the best thing ever is if they made a live action katamari game where you could actually go to a huge warehouse and have a katamari with velcro (or something sticky) all over it and you could pick up things by rolling them up. i get the songs stuck in my head all day, which is a pleasant way to combat the girl diana has aptly named falsetto girl here.
