diary of a sicky

SO, my new year's was great in the poconos. i spent time with lovely old friends and made some new ones, but on sunday morning i woke up with this killer headache and sore throat, a possible fever, as well as a cold sore on my tongue. i stayed at paul's that night and on monday morning i got to work way early so i could go buy some medication and fruit and try to schedule a doctor's appointment. i asked the pharmacist at walgreen's what she thought it could be and she said that it sounded like strep throat. by 9:20 i still hadn't found any doctors in my network that had appointments and i told sharon i just felt terrible. she told me to get out of there before i made anyone else sick. i called the last number i had (seriously, this was call #20) and miraculously got an appointment that day at 1:20. i came home, took a nap, woke up late, scrambled to get there, ended up going about a mile west on north before i realized the numbers were going up and not down. i got to the doctor's two minutes after my appointment time and i still had to fill out the paperwork. turned out that i didn't have strep throat, but i do have the flu, which has been SUPER FUN! the cold sore on my tongue makes it really difficult to spit out the phlegm (sorry so graphic) without intense pain. ginny got me some ambesol and that definitely helped numb the areas, but then i ended up biting my tongue (and the cold sore).

while the sore throat has finally stopped aching as much, i'm still coughing up bloody phlegm and blowing it out of my nose. also, as of monday evening i started feeling intense nausea and/or dizziness whenever i stand up. chills come and go. my body aches all over. right now i'm on the fence as to whether i should go in tomorrow since sharon was so serious about me not spreading my sickness. i'm going to wait until 4 to determine this. my wallet really needs me to be okay tomorrow, as i don't have benefits and every day i'm sick i'm not getting paid. fun stuff!

last night, against my wishes ginny asked adam and gretchen to come over and drop off a belated christmas present to our apartment. i just felt so terrible and i hate having my friends see me in this state. a bit later, paul came over and dropped off much needed bananas and my laptop before the huge snowstorm started. i'm just trying really hard not to get anyone else sick. paul was trying to kiss my cheek and i was shooing him away because the germs are all over me. even today after i showered, i still feel like the germs are all over me. my head is still really cloudy. i forgot michael vartan's last name. i called him michael vitar (from the sandlot). i forgot the name of the east/west street just a few blocks south of us: augusta. seriously, this all just needs to stop asap. veronica mars was really good last night. tonight is the season premiere of ALIAS. ah, these little things help me get by. i might try to make a mix cd later if my head would just stop throbbing. i've taken so much tylenol cold and sinus and advil since monday. i think i need to eat something since all i've had so far today is a banana. feed a cold, starve a fever? i can't figure out what to do. last night i tried eating sushi but i could barely taste it. oh man, let's see if i can 'round up something to eat. there's no WAY i can venture outside. just looking outside makes me feel sicker.

ps. oh yeah, on top of all that awesome sickness stuff, the crown that i got only a year and a few months ago, IS LOOSE, as in it wiggles when i touch it with my tongue and the nerve endings underneath hurt so bad when i touch them with any sort of liquid. i am falling apart. since i don't have benefits, i don't have dental, so i can't just go to the dentist. i have a discount plan thing called the ge wellness plan, but i haven't been able to figure out where i can get dental discounts with it. gar.
