friends, friends

any of you who have t-mobile, do you have own one of their currently offered phones? apparently my phone; sony ericsson T610 is on its' last proverbial leg, so i am looking to get a new phone. great timing, eh?. i would like it to be a camera phone that takes better photos than my current phone. also, i am not partial to flip phones. i don't want to spend over $150 (after rebate) because it seems the past two years i've got a new phone each year. grr. do you have any recommendations? please please help me with suggestions!

to note: motorola c650, samsung e315 (flip) and samsung e715 (flip) looked like candidates. i've read up on all these phones online and all phones tend to have positive/negative reviews, so i'm looking to hear from people i know to kind of weigh out my options. thanks loves!

3:21pm update: now i'm pretty sold on the nokia 3220. the nokias that i had before were great and easy to play around with. however, it would be the phone that i've fallen for is on back order for like infinity! after work i am going to check downstairs at the t-mobile store and see if they happen to have any there. unfg. my phone is SO staticky, so apologies if you call me and i can't hear you (or vice versa). gr.

i have a samsung flip-phone on a different provider and i fucking hate the phone. the samsung user interface is ridiculously overcomplicated and it's unnecessarily difficult to get simple things done. like, to textmessage, i have to scroll through a menu, then wait to "connect", then scroll through another menu, then type the message out, have to keep the phone number memorized because i can't search through my contacts, wait to "connect" again, etc. etc.

pure crap! god i miss nokia!

Hey, I'm with Tmobile and just did an upgrade. You need to be very aware that the price they offer for phones to brand new customers is not the same offer they will give you to upgrade. Even when you sign a brand new service contract, you will not get the advertised price on the phone. You must specifically ask them how much you will have to pay. When I told them that this is a load of crap, and that I'd be better off going to a different service (if only to get a decent phone), they barely cared. I threatened to leave, and got to talk to a few different supervisors, but still ended up with nothing close to the deals for brand new customers.

In my estimation, the phones Tmobile offers are not the very best out there, but I stuck with them because I like their pricing plans. I realize you want a camera phone, and their top of the line phones seem very nice, but I went with a non-camera phone, the Motorolla V-180--it's battery life is stellar. I mean it blows every other phone I've seen away in that reguard, which was important to me.

tim, c'mon! i tend to check everything out prior to actually buying something especially when it comes to how much money i'll actually be dropping on something. battery life isn't a huge importance to me, since i have the ability to charge at either home or work. i just really like having a camera to document moments where i don't happen to have my digital on me.

ok, ok

I'm sure you don't need my advice, I'm just saying that they HINTED that I might be able to get the new customer deal if I complained enough to the right people, yet it didn't happen. What I probably should have said was: someone in customer service said that I "should tell my supervisor that you are going to drop Tmobile". Clearly that person thought I could get the $200 phone I wanted for free! So my intention isn't to imply that you need common sensical advice, it's that YOU SHOULD TRY TO GET THE NEW CUSTOMER DEAL.

Also, I fully realize you wouldn't get a phone without a camera, even though they really all take the crappiest photos I've ever seen. But you are the chick who owned a beeper, so hey, there's no convincing you. My further point, is just sort of wondering why battery life on almost all phones is so terrible. I mean the standby phone on mine, by comparison, is 10 DAYS STANDBY and 9 HOURS TALK TIME (the Nokia you like gets 3.5 hours Talk time, despite being a much better, more expensive phone)--which I thought was great for me. Basically, since I divide my weeks between home and Sarah's, it's great not to have to pack a charger--I was running my old phone's battery every weekend.

and by the way

Tmobile told me that the phone I originally thought I wanted, the Sharp TM150, was on Backorder for "a very long time" as well, and that I couldn't get that one. I asked why it was on the website then, and they said it's available to NEW CUSTOMERS. When I went into the Tmobile store, they had boxes and boxes of them. I told them that I was told they were on backorder, and they said, well, we have a bunch of them. Then when I tried to buy one, their computer records told them I was not eligible for the Sharp TM150--it was only allowed to be sold to customers who had not been with Tmobile for the last 6 months or more.

i feel like i'm talking into a plastic can. and i hate the fact it only retains the last ten numbers called/received and that it considers missed calls received whereas before my phone would hold received/missed/dialed for 30/10/10 respectively.
and i use to have 'here comes you man' as my ring tone for my last phone and tried to download it onto this phone and can't make it work. and i'm not a complete technological retard.
i dunno. i guess i'm just whiny today.
sorry.

Cool. I definitely don't think its a great phone by any stretch, but way better than my ancient one. All technology seems to be a compromise as you know, but for me I can't imagine needing the stuff stored. I just wish the casing was a bit more solid feeling.

Dammit, you are so right. Gotta peel off that cover everyday practically to dust. BUT I've gotta pretend I love it for a year, so...
